Is it impeachment yet?
If Clinton could be impeached for perjurying himself about adultery, surely putting a CIA operative (and contacts) in jeopardy rises to impeachable level possible since it was a violation of criminal law concerning the unauthorized disclosure of classified (national security) information.
See the details from the Libby trial which has in the Vice President's handwriting notations that indict the President...

Out of Control
The President and Vice President of the United States of America are out of control. They are acting in an undemocratic fashion by forging ahead with the plan to send more troops to Iraq even though Congress, Americans, the military do not support this action. They are acting unilaterally.
Cheney said that the resolution passed by Congress "won't stop us."
Our founders did not want an imperial presidency. They put in place the three branches of government, with checks and balances so that no one branch would get all powerful (based on Montesquieu's work).
We need to reclaim our republic, our democracy. NOW! Congress needs to reclaim their power. I suggest impeachment, that might get their attention.

Presidential Disconnect
Sunday night President Bush was interviewed on Sixty Minutes (link below), since we were flying on JetBlue, we watched the interview. I also strolled the aisles and noted that while over 50% of the flyingtvs had been tuned to the football game just prior, less than 20% were on the interview. If this was indicative of the American public, they are not interested in what the President has to say. They have turned him off, unfortuntely, they can not tune him out of their lives. His actions and policies will be affecting Americans for a long time.

Bush the 43rd, the first dictator
The president's speech on Wednesday evening (1/11/o7) was made 3 years too late. His administration has been lacking in intelliegence, competence and vision. The speech just underscores these deficits.
He did not explain what mistakes (!) were made that he was responsible for [“Where mistakes have been made, the responsibility lies with me”]. He thinks that sending in more troops now will assure Americans' safety [“For the safety of our people, America must succeed in Iraq.” ].
Unfortunately, Mr. Bush's speech was just another example of his arrogance. We had no business being in Iraq--if there are terrorists there NOW, we made them. Iraqis are suffering--many thousands dead and many more wounded, besides they have no electricity or clean water. We have removed (and killed) Saddam Hussein for crimes he committed in the 198os -when Reagan and Bush the 1st were in office. Instead of reaching out to Syria and Iran, he threatens them.
This President lied to the American people. He has trampled on the Constitution. He has not made us any safer, but has made himself safe by making himself into a dictator.
It is time for Americans to reclaim America.

Born in the USA
The easiest way to become an American citizen is the be born in the USA. Most Americans could NOT pass the Citizenship Test--I know, I give the test to my students at the beginning of the semester. Yuki Lin was born here, and she was a New Year's baby...she also almost won the 1st Baby of 2007 and a $25,000 savings bond from ToysRUs, except her mom was not American. In the fine print, the corporation said the mother must be a legal resident. Most people, including staffs at the hospitals who must enter the information only read the promo material--addressed to "all expectant mothers".
ToysRUS may decide who they want to give their money to, but for all intents and purposes it is the baby who wins (and the hospital). ToysRUS is trying to open the Chinese market AND they do not exclude people from buying toys at their stores based on their immigration status.

Sea Change? Not in Iraq
This president is not only arrogant, he does not listen to the advise from his Generals on the ground in Iraq...when they asked for more troops, he withheld, and NOW he wants to send in more troops.
More troops is not the answer. But then again, the question has been forgotten.
